Samsung Unveils Innovative Devices at the Pahiyas Festival 2010

Posted on the June 2nd, 2010 under Electronics, Gadgets, Photography, Technology, Travel by AJ of Baklaako.com

Samsung recently launched their newest innovative devices to lead the digital imaging evolution during the Pahiyas Festival.

I got the chance to try out two of their products – the SMX-C20 Digital Camcorder and the ST550 Digital Camera. The festive colors and fantbulous designs of the houses in Lucban, Quezon were easy to catch using the SMX C20 camcorder (for the videos) and the ST550 (for the photos).

I have to admit though that I really wanted to try out their other products (specially the NX10 – a next generation camera), but they only had three units during the event. Then again, there’s always a next time, right?

The Pahiyas Festival at Lucban was the perfect place not only to eat free food, but also to appreciate a Filipino tradition. You cannot go to Pahiyas and not take photos and videos, becuase trust me, you would definitely want to capture priceless moments. These memories are best saved not only in your mind and heart but also in the memory cards of your digital imaging gadgets!

Samsung Electronics Phils Corp (SEPCO) made that possible for me and other bloggers as they unveiled their latest line-up of cameras and camcorders which are designed to meet the consumers’meed for high quality digital imaging and easy photo management. One of the good things I appreciate about Samsung is that they have the consumers’ needs in mind when they develop new products. They focus on enhancing usability with technology advancements that help the consumer take and manage photos better.  And all these while improving sharing and connectivity features.

Here are some of the latest innovative products they launched:

Together in Electroworld!

Posted on the May 21st, 2010 under Electronics, Technology by AJ of Baklaako.com

In August of last year, I was in the market for a new personal computing device – owing to the fact that my 4-year old Asus laptop started conking out on me.  My budget was only about P25,000 and the only thing that money could buy me was a netbook.  I scoured through TipidPc and Sulit as well as the websites of different electronics stores.  I did an online canvassing of netbooks then compared their prices and specifications.

But something inside me was telling me that an online search like that was just not enough.  And so I did what any self-respecting consumer would do:  I went to Park Square 1 to check out netbooks from the different stores there.  Seeing and getting to hold the actual product is a completely different experience from searching online.  I went to each and every electronics store in Park Square, armed with a pen and a piece of paper.  I was already bent on buying an HP Mini but I convinced myself to check out other brands as well.  I went from one store to another, then back to this particular store. Then back to another, then back yet again to that store.  That store was

Acer Aspire Timeline: Bringing the Laptop Back to Your Lap

Posted on the July 3rd, 2009 under Gadgets, Technology by AJ of Baklaako.com

Who’s bringing sexy back and bringing the laptop back to the LAP?

When I was younger, I have always wanted to own a laptop. Seeing laptops on TV and in movies was such a treat for me. When I was finally able to own one of my own (bought using my own hard-earned money), I was too excited to put to use the idea of a computer placed on my lap. Thirty minutes into using it, I was reminded that during those times, people were arguing about what it was supposed to be called. Notebooks, portables, laptops – these were what I heard as names of that thing. So what reminded me? The HEAT on my lap! That was when I realized why some people refused to call laptops as such – because the heat from the machine could actually toast or boil parts of a man’s reproductive system. So ever since then, I called them “notebooks” or my “portable computer”. If a laptop keeps your lap hot (and not because it does a lap dance), it should never be called a laptop.

Recently, Acer Philippines, Inc. brought to the Philippine shores something that would actually make me start calling laptops as laptops again. Acer, one of the world’s most trusted computer manufacturers, recently unveiled their new Timeline series. One of the more impressive (and non-technical) features of the series is their environmentally-friendly nature. I’m not really a great tech guy (but I do know some specs of computers and mobile phones), so I will share some of the things that I know about this product series.

We all want our portable devices to last long when we’re bringing them away from the house right? (Continue reading…)

TV is Dead! Flippish.com Has Arrived!

Posted on the June 30th, 2009 under Beauty, Events, Technology by AJ of Baklaako.com

“Television is Dead” – this is what the people behind Flippish.com believe. With the now-easy availability of the Internet and increasing broadband speeds being offered, more people spend more time online nowadays, online entertainment is proving that it is indeed the wave of the future.

FLIPPISH is a play on the word Filipino.  In the US and other countries, some Pinoys are called Flips. The word FLIPPISH could also mean something that is odd, crazy or weird.

Flippish.com is spearheaded by Chris Tan, the co-founder and Managing Director of Ideal Minds (yes, the makers of JM Rodriguez’s On Air!) and Kring Elenzano, my kabaklaan and blogger friend (who also happens to be the Creative Director of Ideal Minds and Flippish.com. Flippish.com is the first Pinoy online video channel that produces original online shows that are of broadcast quality.  The people behind Flippish.com believe that it is about time that we Filipinos take on the challenge of coming up with online entertainment that is of international standards.

Flippish will tickle your funny bone (and sometimes give you a boner? lol); get you up to speed on the latest hotspots and goings-on around and outside the metro (check out their coverage of iBlog5 – when I pretty much hogged all of the running time); stimulate your brain cells with thought-provoking reality shows; and most importantly, entertain you until it becomes an essential part of your daily Internet habit!

Flippish.com will finalle be officially launched on July 2, 2009 at Fiamma (Jupiter St., Makati). For more information about the launch party (and yeah, the website and its shows), check out http://www.flippish.com
