Give in to Giving: The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf Commemorative Journals
The holiday season is here again! What does that mean for many of us? Partying, eating and drinking! 2008 is almost over and 2009 is just around the corner. What do I look forward to when the new year starts? Aside from the many beautiful things that come at every turn of the year, I also look forward to using the journals and planners which I have collected towards the end of the year.
Various companies have been giving out their own journals for the next year and all these come with a price. Some give out the planners for minimum number of purchased items, while others give them for free. One of those which will give out planners, plus more, is The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf — one of my favorite coffee shops in the metro.
The CBTL Journal, aptly named Give in to Giving, features the works of 12 of the most important artists in the Philippines today. There are a lot of good things about this journal that I have already started collecting stamps so I can get one of these. Besides, I don’t really need to exert that much effort to get the journal because 1) I’m almost always at Coffee Bean enjoying my African Sunrise Tea Latte (ask Carlo, the barista from the Greenbelt branch and he knows what my drink is), 2) the journal stamp card only requires you to purchase 12 drinks, and 3) I’m also always up to donate to charity.
Yes, you read the last one right. The CBTL journal is not just your ordinary holiday season planner, I call it “the planner with a cause.”
12 Cups with The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf: Give in to Giving was launched (Continue Reading)because the people from CBTL saw it as an opportunity to spark the passion of our optimistic generation. Partnering with 12 organizations that cater to different advocacies – Kababaihan Gabay sa Bayan (KAGABAY), Caritas Manila-Restorative Justice, The Philippine Animal and Welfare Society (PAWS), Bahay Tuluyan, Haribon, Cartwheel Foundation, Kythe, Autism Society of the Philippines (ASP), Philippine Cerebral Palsy Inc., Philippine Band of Mercy (PBM), Resources for the Blind, and Philippine Business for Social Congress (PBSP) – The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf’s wide selection gives its customers a chance to support the cause they are most passionate about.
How does it work? First, you need to get a stamp card from any CBTL branch. For every drink you purchase, the barista will put a stamp on your card. Once you have all 12 boxes stamped, you will get your planner. But wait there’s more! After you have completed all 12 stamps, you will have the option to select one charity from among the 12 mentioned above, and CBTL will donate a certain amount (depending on their pledge arrangements with the organization) to your selected charity!
Now isn’t that neat? Then again, there’s still more! If you’re a big CBTL fan (and love the African Sunrise Tea Latte like I do, or want to try out their new drinks Double Chocolate Ice Blended, Hot Double Chocolate, and Pure Double Chocolate Ice Blended), there’s something more for you! If you complete 12 cards, and donate to 12 different charities, CBTL will give you a year’s supply of Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf drinks! That is definitely something great!
And a good suggestion from yours truly is to team up with your friends. Get 11 friends to start collecting stamps with you. You get 12 planners, donate to 12 charities, and get your year’s worth of coffee (of course you’d have to share that year’s supply with all the other 11 friends). So why not go and Give in to Giving now!

That’s a great program, and if I was there I’m not gonna hesitate…just 12 coffees, did something for charity, and the best deal…1 year supply of coffee! Geez! I wonder if it’s unlimited? Is it? Ciao!
