Alta Vista de Boracay

Whenever I hear the word Boracay, only two things come to mind: beautiful beach and partying! I have been to Boracay so many times that lately, all I could think of whenever someone says Boracay is the partying. Don’t get me wrong, I still love the fine white sand and the crystal clear waters that the island has to offer. I knew that aside from the very lively party scene at night, there were other things that one can do while in Boracay.

If you want to get away from it all, from the hustle and bustle of the metro, White Beach in Boracay is definitely not the place to do it. But that doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy some peace and quiet and “me” time while you’re on the island. You can still get away from it all, thanks to this relatively new place called Alta Vista de Boracay.

Alta Vista de Boracay opens its doors to a whole new Boracay experience. Located about 15 minutes away from the busy White Beach area, Alta Vista de Boracay offers a private, majestic view of the vast expanse of this beautiful tropical paradise. From anywhere within the Alta Vista compound, one can enjoy a truly majestic view of the real beauty of the island – something which you wouldn’t be able to enjoy elsewhere. The first time I went to Boracay, it wasn’t as commercial as it is now. There was more peace and there were fewer people. Fast forward to the present: it’s like Metro Manila was transplanted into this beach paradise! When I checked in at the Alta Vista, I knew that I would be transported back to a time when real peace and quiet actually existed in Boracay. Alta Vista de Boracay is the biggest resort hotel in the island – sprawling across four hectares of prime land within Boracay’s 80-hectare tourist economic zone. Comfortably situated away from the noise and busy world, Alta Vista is definitely a private escape.

There are 17 elegant buildings that house 500 Southeast Asian-inspired rooms. The buildings are named after famous mountains of the world. They have two types of rooms: Loft Suites and Studio Suites (I stayed in a Studio Suite). The Loft Suites are ideal for families or a barkada (they offer Barkada Packages too!). Each suite has a 32-inch LCD TV with cable, IDD and NDD telephone units, In-room safety deposit boxes, a mini-bar, bathrooms with separate toilet and bath and a hair dryer! The rooms are also equipped with microwave ovens and kitchen sinks so if you want to prepare your own food in the comfort of your own home, it is possible! The rooms also feature verandas with views of the different parts of the island. And yes, the beds and pillows are comfortable enough to allow you to sleep soundly!

The hotel also has wellness facilities like a spa (with 24-hour room service; also has a steam room at the spa facility) and an infinity pool. The infinity pool is really beautiful that sometimes, I thought I was swimming out to sea from the pool. If you want a quick and relaxing dip, the infinity pool is definitely for you. However, if you want to sunbathe by the sand and by the sea, you can’t do that right away since the hotel is not a beachside one. But I didn’t have to worry too much about that though as the hotel offers free shuttle service to and from the nearby Puka Beach (less than 5-minutes away).

The shuttle service is quite convenient too. If you want to go to White Beach to enjoy people-watching, or to get your caffeine fix from the island’s Starbucks, or buy stuff from D’Mall or if you simply want to get away from the peace and quiet for a short while, the free shuttle service makes it easier for you. The free shuttle service departs from the hotel and D’Mall in intervals of an hour and a half. This other side of paradise also offers what they call “Island Concierge Service.” It’s the regular concierge service plus more! I actually used this service to have my flight rebooked to a different date. They were so efficient that all I had to do was give them my ticket, my preferred new flight schedule and my phone number. They processed the rebooking while I was out having fun at Puka Beach so I didn’t really have to go all the way to White Beach to get my new return ticket.

The concierge service is also a convenient way of booking water sports activities. They can arrange different activities for you like island hopping, banana boat ride, flying fish, parasailing, jet ski rental, scuba diving, reef walking, ATV rental, kiteboarding and many others! You don’t need to go through the motions of haggling with a manong since the concierge service can do that for you! Alta Vista de Boracay is more than just a hotel, it is an experience! You will definitely not run out of things to do while you’re there. So if you want to experience the other side of paradise, I highly recommend Alta Vista de Boracay.
